I put this on bball board but thought I would share it here. In terms of setting up the new conference I think the only way is with pods.
West - Utah, BYU, ASU, UA
East - WVU, UCF, UC, UH
North - KU, KSU, ISU, CU
South - TCU, BU, TTU, OSU
Football - you play the 3 teams in your pod every year. You rotate 2 teams from the other pods. Total conference games 9 per year. Conference championship game is the top two schools with best conference record.
Basketball - you play home and away the 3 teams in your pod. You play the remaining 12 teams either home or away each year. A total of 18 conference games per year.
