As Donald Trump engages in maneuvering designed to either curtail or outright end Robert Mueller's investigation, sources say that Mueller's team is writing its "final" report.
Exactly what that means is a little bit unclear. There are areas that Team Mueller was clearly working on that have not been resolved. For example, Roger Stone's role in this whole affair. Not to mention the President's (written) testimony, which Trump says he is "still reviewing." So, what are the possible interpretations of this news? Here are a few:

- The "sources" (possibly Trump's lawyers) are wrong
- Team Mueller is finishing the report on one area (say, obstruction of justice) but not others (say, collusion)
- Mueller is just buying himself a little time. He isn't going to squeeze six months out of something like this, but a few weeks? Maybe.
- Team Mueller is done with "fact-finding," and all future activity will take the form of indictments and prosecutions
- Team Mueller has achieved far more than anyone thought, and doesn't particularly need Stone/Trump/et al. to make their case(s)
- Mueller really is cashing out, and is going to let the Democratic-controlled House follow up as they see fit
