pay attention to the final "Total Yardage" counts in the non-conference games. This is probably the strongest indicator for how truly competitive we'll be this season in the Big 12.
So... what should we expect?
vs. Rhode Island - If we out gain them by 300+ yards (think 500 to 200 yards), I think that is a very strong sign that we're going to be much better this year. If we out gain them by 100-300 yards, it's a sign that we're improved but probably not enough to win more than 3 games. If we only out gain Rhode Island by 100 yards or less--sound the alarm bells cause it's going to be another long season.
vs. Ohio - We should out gain Ohio by 50-150 yards. If we dominate by more than that, you'll see the line versus Memphis drop quite a bit. Anything less than 50 yards and the game turns into a toss-up and the 2-3 total win season is back in play.
vs. Memphis - Don't get out gained by more than 100 yards. They are breaking in enough new players and coaches that we should be able to keep the yardage totals relatively close. If we stay w/in 100 total yards, we'll have a chance to win the game.
