So when Paul Johnson retired, should Ga Tech just have hired Monken? (I don't recall that that was even really a consideration for them). I think everyone expected a transition period with change in style of offense, but Geoff (Jeff) Collins has won three games every year, is 9-25 and 7-18 overall in a not overly dominant P5 conference. They had two elite opponents at end of season (Georgia and ND), but I don't think combined 90-0 overall drubbing is very optimistic way to go out for fanbase. Collins just did the "push button in case of emergency" firing of a chunk of his staff.
At the time, I remember thinking "Oh, they'll just probably hire Monken". I don't know if he would have worked at Kansas, but seems like Ga Tech and him would have been perfect fit.
