Giving someone 125-150k towards a home is a folly. The buyer will more than likely buy a home that they cannot keep up. This leads to upset neighbors. I'm all for helping people get into a home. But I think that give incentives to the builders to build less expensive homes. This could be done in a number of ways that will help the buyer buy an affordable home that the buyer can keep up and lower the chances either foreclosures or lack of upkeep. Just about every buyers first home was a "starter" home.
