KU Staff - just say no.... now that you know how bad the roster numbers are and the lack of talent in certain areas you're gong to be tempted to:
- take blue shirts..... STOP.... its not worth it - we need to maintain that magic # 25 for every February and build this program with HS kids... I can live with 1-11, 2-10 and 3-9 the first 3 years if we're bringing in solid HS kids and have consistently run a sound walk on program... NO Blue Shirts unless he has 2 to play.... its not worth it - was Nigel King worth losing a chance at a HS kid who couldve given us 4-5 years this past February?
- go with a few extra juco kids..... for the love of all that is holy and God like please keep the juco crap to 5 or less and make it a hard rule that its semester transfers only.... Make it a KU rule - go to the Hill and demand that admissions make it a rule so you won't be tempted... Eliminate the temptation...
- please keep this Fall's playbook parochial in the spirit of true RAID and build that foundation of the system as its supposed to be installed... there are no short cuts when installing RAID... do it basic and right in year 1 and step layer each Spring and Fall... there's so much to be gained by focusing on TEMPO and RUNNING A CORE SET OF12 in their sleep and having the OL down to a handful 6 or less for schemes.. the jump in production from year 1 to year 2 will be eye popping to the kids and the fans... Look at what Cal did in year 1 under Sonny with what they ran... I would scale it back even farther - maybe you have to because of the current roster.. Dont rush the RAID...
