Booted from the Ecuadoran Embassy and arrested a single count of conspiracy to disclose classified information that could be used to injure the United States.
A big win for the press and freedom of information advocates that it is not an espionage charge.
My own take here:
He was righteous at the beginning, not because Bush 43 was in office, but because he really woke us up to the drone killings (something Obama would later expand) that led to a near constant stream of civilian deaths.
I was a fan of wikileaks and what they were doing even after Obama took office because I honestly believe in the work that Chelsea Manning, Snowden, et al did should not be pegged towards one party but another should be immune; to be that way would be a hypocrite and someone without a soul.
But something happened around 2010. Well before last election cycle when most Republicans went from hating his guts to loving him because he releasing hacked/leaked stuff from the DNC and hurting Hillary, it was years before that.
He went from exposing corruption from any/all governments to specifically releasing damaging stuff against the Democrats and really, anything that helped the Russian government while declining to publish damaging stuff towards others. Something happened, it's like they have/had Kompromat on him.
