Was at our country club last Sunday evening for dinner and overheard comments at the next table about KU football. The speaker was the local community college football coach. He has transformed a previously losing program into an absolute winner (bowl game last year.) A very impressive guy. I went over to talk to him. He was saying that he really liked Beaty; that Beaty was a really "good dude"; that he talked to Beaty and/or Bowen every week; and that KU just needed to give Beaty time because it will take several years to dig out of the hole he inherited. This coach's program had 15 players receive D1 scholarships after last year. He also said KU is looking at a player or two of his for next year. It was very gratifying to hear a coach of his reputation talking so positively about our coach. He also mentioned that our stadium needed upgrading to compete with KSU's--something we all know. Interesting comments from a highly respected guy.
I believe most on the Slant know we have to be patient. We have the right man heading our program. We have to give him the time to get us back in the fray. i am confident he will do so.
