What are people's thoughts on the make up of the January 6th commission? There seems to be a battle going on where the GOP wants equal numbers on the commission similar to the 9/11 Commission, and the Ds say the 9/11 Commission was equal because it was a divided Congress, which this isn't.
Unsaid is that giving equal weight to the GOP on the commission is letting people who had a hand in the insurrection dictate the investigation. It's like saying, "we need Al Qaeda experience on the 9/11 Commission otherwise it will be biased." No, I'm not saying the GOP is AQ, but that both were intimately involved in the acts of the respective days, and if you don't think the GOP would load the Commission with people like Jim Jordan and Gaetz you're crazy. If we could guarantee GOP representation of Cheney, Romney, etc. I'd be all for equal representation, but I have ZERO doubt it would be loaded with the Q-GOP faction.
