Looking over where signees for other Big 12 programs came from. One team that caught my attention was Iowa State. There ability to recruit rather local and hardly any reliance on Texas wasn’t so much eye opening but showed how one can construct a roster without the need for Texas.
Felt KU has really tried to make Texas a second home. Also thought for a long while our need to run something similar to other southern Big 12 teams wasn’t really all that smart. Kansas hadn’t faired well on either front.
I think KU and ISU have some similarities. Mainly geography. I think of Kansas as a midwestern school. Logically we might be better off recruiting kids with midwestern roots who identify with Lawrence.
Anyways, here’s a nice tweet from Iowa State showing a map of where their signees came from. The success in KC for the Cyclones has to be curbed soon if you are Kansas.
