I've seen a few people push for making Juneteenth a federal holiday. I've also seen a lot of folks advocate - and some states implement - an indigenous peoples day honoring Native Americans/Indigenous people. What are people's thoughts about creating a day of remembrance/honor for those treated so terribly in the US's past?
At the a minimum, I think a national Indigenous People's day is needed. MLK day has become a day of service, but I could see a "Civil Rights" day in addition, though I can understand the argument, "that's covered by MLK day."
Thoughts?
