First Play – Inside Zone, 5 defenders in the box against our 5. Should be a good play.
Adeniji gets beat across his face and makes (physical mistake) the RB cut almost before he gets the ball
However, because of all the other OL pushing their guys 2+ yards back, the RB is able to get around the outside for an 8-yard gain:
Second Play – Inside zone vs 6 in the box. Not ideal, but should be able to get 2 yards.
Adeniji got a little roughed up his first two plays. Got hit under the chin and driven back a couple of yards. Everything else is ok, and if the RG can get off on that LB we pick up the first down easily.
RG gets tripped up, but they (RG and RT) got enough push that the RB now can go outside or try and run over the LB for a first down. He goes outside and picks up the first down:
Play 3, drop back, OL sliding left and responsible for the boxed LB. 3 Man front should be an easy pickup.
No pressure, easy throw and catch for 3 yards:
Play 4 – Another drop back, same OL protection:
This time the LB came, good pickup by the LG and good pocket for the QB:
Great throw by Willis all the way across the field (probably a 35 yard throw in the air) for 10 yards and a first down:
Play 5 – Inside zone. Quick tempo, the DE over LG/LT doesn’t even have his hand down yet. This should be a huge play:
Here we look ok, good angles the RB hits it front side and we’re out the gate. Wouldn’t complain if Willis kept it here because 1 is closing down, but that backside LB probably gets him even if he does outrun number 1:
However, the LG does what I’ll refer to as a lookout block because he doesn’t even touch the guy (needs to turn around and yell lookout) him and Adeniji are double teaming. He honestly doesn’t even need to come off yet as his LB is still 3 yards down field and wayyy out of the picture (His LB is circled):
And so the guy he should be double teaming is making a the RB cutback 2 yards in the backfield, and the LB he’s going for couldn’t have even made a tackle if we told him the play beforehand. Imagine if the X’d out guy was being double team like he should have been. Mental mistake Rhodes, 0 yard gain:
Play 6 – Drop back pass, OL sliding right, responsible for the squared LB:
Ok pass pro, RG got beat inside, but pushed his guy far enough passed the QB. Good quick throw and catch for 8 yards:
