I am so fed up with what I saw on Saturday. I know that you are all feeling the same way, and I have read a lot of what people on this message board have been saying. As crazy as it sounds, I truly felt like that would have been a monumental win for the program. I am one of the biggest David Beaty fans out there, but that was one of the worst coached games I have ever seen. Some of these coaching errors are mistakes that I would have been upset about watching a grade school team.
- We burned (at least) two time outs in the second half. a) We called one after an injury time out where we had at least two minutes to think about the third down play call. b) We called a time out before a critical 4th down play and ended up punting.
The play calling in the first half, and really through most of the game was atrocious. How many screens and check downs did we throw? It was painful to watch. The defense stepped up in the second half, but that first half looked like a mediocre high school team playing an NFL team.
I have a lot of friends who follow the program close like I do. They are all saying "same ole, same ole" however, I really do think this team should be much more competitive. We finally are starting to see some exciting athletes out there, but the results are the same. I don't know what needs to happen, but I want to see a much better coached, more competitive team the rest of the season.
