I think we can agree that the most valuable player to a program would be a talented 4th or 5th year senior that came to KU on scholarship as a true frosh. That player would have had the advantage of 4/5 years of coaching, conditioning, and experience.

I just made a count using the Slants roster. Using my memory as to who fit the criteria. The number won't be perfect.

The results were 32 total players out of a theoretical 85 man roster came to K.U. as a scholarship player as a true frosh. Of the 32 only 9 were juniors or seniors. Obviously the roster is a total disaster. Retention has probably been as bad as any team in history of D1 football. All the jucos signed have contributed to this disaster.

It does no good to argue responsibility now. Over the next 3/4 years those numbers will improve as KU does a better job of retaining the players that it signs. I have little doubt as these numbers improve KU football will improve.
