My girlfriends son is entering his Freshman year. He's played C, OT, K and DE for the past 6 years. The kid is talented and fast for his size (6,2" 185), at least for the positions he's played. Pretty solid kicker too.

The way Little League is played here is by high school. The kids play together all the way through school, so the coaches all know what to expect each season. Well, Luke has played for a different school than the one he attends because his father was one of the coaches and they have much better coaching at the lower levels than the town he lives in.

This year he's playing at Long Branch High School and its a whole new deal. They've been pushing Luke to play qb, which he should be good at, but has never done before. The staff has pushed him hard and he has developed tendinitis on the inside of his elbow. It's so painful that he's gone to the ER twice. They just say, don't throw for a week, ice it and everything will be OK, but it hasn't worked. The coaches want him to throw anyway. They want the Doctors note which Luke won't give to him. They have him scared because they're old school...you know, "tough it out you pussy!" The family Doc is anti football so he won't help much for advice.

Anyway. His father agrees with the coaches and his mom (my gf) is completely the opposite (my poor baby!).

It needs to heal, but the coaches and his father want him to play through it. I'm more of the mindset that I'd agree, if he doesn't damage it irreparably and it could heal in the off season. His mom is afraid he'll damage it more in wrestling and quite honestly, that's his sport. He's done it for one year and placed 3rd in the state in his weight class.

Hawkdoc, DocTwo, fitness, anyone have some answers? He's actually said he'll quit football if they keep hasseling him. He loves football, so that tells you how much pain he must be in.

BTW. I got him a brace that puts pressure on an isolated spot, but he seems to only wear it in practice.
