I could go into a long-winded argument about why a specific new coach might be better than a coach that just left us, knowing arguments like "why weren't they hired last year" or "still doesn't change perception" would come and to be honest have some validity to those potential comments, but it really doesn't matter at this point.
The only things that matter right now is that Coach Beaty must find quality replacements and they must improve upon what was done last year. It really is that simple
The unfortunate thing is that we really can't prove these things for a few months. This will hurt perception wise, for now. It will take a lot for the staff to fight off that perception until they can show what they can do on gameday. Will these replacements do better than those that just left? To be determined, coaching is crazy in that predicting future success of a given coach at a specific location for a specific time period is extremely hard to do. But every single one of the position groups that are losing their position coach can improve next year and it isn't that far-fetched. If we can show improvement at each one of the positions that are being replaced, and again look at the numbers - this is definitely achievable - then a few months from now what looks like a weakness today can be spun into a strength of Coach Beaty's
The perception is bad right now, there really is no good way to spin that. But it doesn't mean there isn't hope.
