Guys it's simple enough, the problem is not really the number of scholarship players, although more bodies would help. Quite simply it's the near total lack of experience and time in the program.
If this team had only 60 scholarship players. 40 of them were redshirt juniors and seniors and none of these 40 uperclassmen were juco guys. In this situation the record would be 2/1 and everyone would feel much better about the program.
You could bring in the best fr qb in the country next year and he would have a 90% chance of being no better than our qb play this year. This same idea would hold true for every position on the field. Experience and 3/4 years of conditioning and practice will improve every player. An average 4th or 5th year players will perform better than a fr or juco guy almost all of the time.
All you have to do is look past the ugliness going on right now and see what's being built for the future.
