Coach Hull hasn't been on the staff more than a couple of weeks and we are already seeing more and more offers going out to kids in Louisiana...these guys are a different breed man...
Travis Etienne
Been trying to think of the perfect compliment to Dom in this class. Sometimes think a big back would be it, although we might have that in Maciah Long for certain situations. Sometimes think a scat back type that can go out wide at times would work, and think there is some truth to that. Then I watched this kid's clips and he is exactly what I want to compliment Dom.
They are built the same, but slightly different in their style and what they do best. I think both are guys that can be all around RBs, but things that I think are big time strengths of theirs really compliment each other well. With Dom I am amazed by his ability to accelerate after making a cut. With Etienne, he is a little bit more north-south than Dom but still has a fluid change of direction ability (more northwest/northeast compared to Dom's east/west cutting ability) with power. So I envision defenses going up against Dom adjusting to his ability to cut causing some hesitations...then Etienne coming in and making them pay for those hesitations and blowing by their attempts to make arm tackles...followed by Dom coming back in to them being more decisive but overpursuing and tackling wind when Dom makes a cut...Dom and Etienne would be a great RB class
Also recently offered Travis Jordan. Won't go into as lengthy of a response here, but this kid is like a RB playing WR. He has some wiggle to him and when the defense makes a mistake on him he makes them pay
And will mention Michael Young again one more time just because that move he makes at the 1:10 mark (noting he recently picked up an Oregon offer)...
It will be tough to land kids like this, going to be a ton of competition, but it just goes to show the talent in Louisiana - there are some really really good players down there and excited we are trying to get involved with some early
