What good is it to have talented depth if you don't use it?
I'm a bit surprised at how the minutes for players is playing out this season.
Supposably, KU has a long list of some of the nation's best talent.
So why not develop a rotation of 5 starters who get rested for a fresh group of 5 players (or at the least bring in 3 or 4 rested players, depending on the opponent match-ups), and have that rotation be used every 5 or 6 minutes or so?
Play fast.
Use your depth.
Make your style wear heavily on the opponent's physical and emotional being.
Keep pressure on the opponent with fresh players.
Score at a pace that the opponent can't keep up with you.
As it is now, it seems KU is not scoring points at a clip any better than last season, and that allows the opponent to hang with KU in games where KU can not establish some separation in the score. And that then leads to some loses, since tight scores means anything can happen.
Given KU's talent throughout the roster, KU should be scoring more points. Twice KU has been in the 60's. SIXTY's ! 60 !
60 points seems shockingly low for this KU team.
And that may be at least partly because of the lack of the use of a "looser" rotation. In short, KU may not be utilizing their depth to its fullest use.
At the least, it would benefit KU if it could play faster and therefore score more points.
And KU can do that by utilizing depth in the best way possible.
