Amazing how many players there were at KU team camp today. I was impressed. I saw some good athletes out there at different positions.
I will have some of my thoughts later. After being there I am starting to think one day camps could start to become a thing of the past. At one day camps I don't think a place like KU is going to get many kids who are legit Big 12 caliber players.
Most of the recruits KU is interested in or have offered are going to places like Nebraska or Oklahoma trying to get offers from what would be considered more tradition-rich programs. Just guessing I'm not sure there will be one offer to a 2016 player from team camps.
However, the team camps look like a much better way. Those are done through the high school and the coach can tell the players they need to be there.
I had a couple high school coaches come up to me and said they were impressed with the organization with so many kids and this being the first team camp under David Beaty. I look for this to grow in the future. Teams can pad up and do some hitting at team camp. At the same time coaches can watch the players in a close setting.
