Thought this would be a nice way to share with fellow Slanters a time when God broke through the noise to just kind of let you know He sees you and cares. Here's one that happened to me this weekend.

Many on here know that my long-time KU football fan dad (Allan Smith, AKA Robohawk)died of cancer this past February. He had been talking to me for some time about going to Stroud's in Kansas City for what he thought was some of the best fried chicken he'd ever had. He wanted to do this in December, but it didn't work out. So, my wife and I went there on Saturday to honor his memory. It was a long wait, so we sat in the foyer waiting for our name to be called.

Anyone that ever knew my dad know's that he had a big personality. Very gregarious- a kind of a "life of the party" type.

As my bride and I sat down, I told her "I wish that dad was here, and that we could have brought him". She replied "I think he sees us, and that he's happy we're here" or something to that effect.

Within 2 or 3 seconds, a silver haired gentleman came in. He had a very big personality, and was quite gregarious himself.

He let the hostess know he needed a table.

His name: Alan.

I about fell out.

I don't know all of God's ways, and I'm not one to believe in people walking the earth after they pass. My take is simply what many of us know- that God loves people and shows up and shows out in a myriad of ways.

Some people call these moments "God-winks". I do too.

I'd be very interested in your story if you have one.
