This seemed like a point of emphasis that Coach Beaty mentioned in his press conference yesterday. It makes sense on multiple fronts. Given we are still rebuilding this program, we can't be giving anyone a quick head start on us. We can point to the Ohio game this past week as proof of this. We can also look at how Memphis started against SEMO, going up 22 - 0 on them in the first quarter.
While all of that is true, looking back at what Memphis did to us last year is also an important reminder to finish strong. We started out tied 10 - 10 in the first quarter. They got a bit of a lead on us in the 2nd quarter, then outscored us right after half 24 - 7 in the third.
Of the many things I hope to see this weekend against Memphis, playing strong for all 4 quarters is at the top for me. We haven't put together a full game against anybody in a long time, so I am hoping we finally see that against Memphis.
