For the first time in our nations history we have 4generations working along side each other. It has been interesting to watch Coach Self deal with today's young adults. I have from the type of work I do seen first hand how these young adults affect the workforce and know what Coach Self is going thru. I'll start from the beginning with generational traits.

Tradionalists- (61&Over) Value logic and discipline, satisfied with a job well done, don't need feedback, motivated by job security, value family/community.Baby Boomers- (42-60) "Me" generation, need money& title and recognition, want feedback once a year, motivated by money, value success.Generation X- (26-41) Want balance between work and freedom, need freedom, need told how they're doing, motivated by time off, value time off.Millennial - (0-26) Want work to be meaningful, want judged on their own merit, need shown virtually how they're doing, also motivated by time off, value individuality.
My point is we are seeing a change of culture in our youth and possibly need to understand how they function to better understand them. I have noticed a generation that wants the accolades and recognition without having to do the dirt work, which looks like our basketball team from time to time.
