Not the best quality, but worth a watch as someone taped an entire Vero Bech game from the stands and posted it on YouTube
What's interesting to me about this game is it was against a very good team and rival of Vero Beach and started out in some pretty bad weather. They had to call the game around the first quarter and finish it up the next day. So in that first part...Stanley was pretty bad. He throws a pick six and follows that up with another INT the very next possession...
Now the next day, it was a complete 180 for him. He started to get going. Even on some of the incomplete passes the throws were there and just drops by the WRs. Probably the throw that was most impressive to me was actually a drop by the WR - perfect over the shoulder throw away from coverage.
Vero Beach was down this game and came back to win in the end because of Stanley. He started out pretty bad, but came through when needed. Some of the downsides I saw was he made some bad reads on some read-option plays and early on didn't feel the pressure well. But on the flip side, he showed some really good velocity on his throws, at the end handled pressure well either stepping up into the pocket or leading on the rushers during screen passes. At the end, he just put the team on his back for the win. Here is the local TV coverage of that game:
So this got me wondering about Stanley playing as a true freshman. Positives and negatives from this. The obvious negative was the slow start and turnovers from him. Something I noticed with Cozart his true freshman year (mainly in the practice clips) was he would start out slow and then get his timing down. That worries me some just from this one game for Stanley - you can clear that mental hurdle easier in HS games than in college games. The one big positive from this game was him at the end refusing to lose and putting the team on his shoulders.
The QB race this summer is obviously going to be really interesting - IMO, it doesn't matter who comes in if we don't get solid QB play, that is the biggest key to this upcoming season...
