Not sure who all has seen the articles about the audit done by the city, but looks like the Oread basically laundered $430,000 from the city and county by intentionally filing false sales tax receipts. Oread bought materials, like construction stuff and lumber, without needing to pay sales tax. Then resold those items to other entities owned by Fritzel, recorded the sales as occurring at the Oread, and got reimbursements from the city and county as a result of their existing agreements for the hotel. City is asking for almost $500,000 back from the Oread, and state laws may have been violated and the case has been forwarded to the Department of Revenue, as well.
In short, this could be a cluster forthcoming. Especially if any of those materials were used for Rock Chalk Park.
