Interesting op ed article in the morning paper. Speech writers and people running campaigns in 2016 decided that the word "fight" excited and resonated with voters. On both sides in both major and minor races the word "fight" inserted in almost all speeches. Not so with either party pre 2016. So, while in the past parties railed against each other and sometimes it got a little ugly, inserting the word "fight" has really been a tipping stone in the race to eliminate civility in politics.
