One of the things I am fearful of is not that we lack the ability to develop a QB but that we may be choosing which one we develop.
All of this is based on pure guessing on the current situation. It may anger and disappoint some but these are my thoughts and they lead to the fears alluded to in the title of the thread.
Cozart does not appear to me to have "it". Of course I have no way of knowing who has "it" until I watch them on the field. I suspect coaches learn the same way.
Willis seemed to have some instincts as he played last year, but it still is difficult until he plays more to be sure.
It appears he and Beaty have a very poor relationship. For some reason Beaty seems to have decided not to expend the effort to develop him.
This leads to my fears. If Coach tries to determine which of his QB's is the right guy and then develop him, what is to say he has chosen the wrong one and set himself back 1,2 or 3 years in the search.
It appears obvious to me Montell is just holding down the spot for either Stanley or Starks. But the fear is that while all our QB's had great High School careers, the only way we hit on one is to give everyone equal opportunity until someone demonstrates he has the desired qualities.
If we only win one game this year and play the same guy all the way through I will be convinced he is waiting until next year at the earliest to reset and go with either Starks or Stanley. If he does, this year is wasted in the development of the kid we expect to be good enough to make us competitive in '17 and '18.
