I'll start. I was becoming a freshman in high school (2007). Kapaun had a camp where the KU staff came down to coach us for the day. I remember working with the D line coach and how chill and fun he was. Def the Reesing vibe.
So we gather around after, and Mark makes a fantastic speech. He talks about commitment, hard work, and not cutting corners in life.
Specifically, I remember him saying, "unless you plan on inheriting a lot of money, you will have to work to live."
Silly little deal, I know. But that speech changed me as a young teenager. I think it's always rubbed on me and I'm forever a better man because of him. 🫠
