I was just looking through the box score and noticed that ESPN has Willis listed at a QBR of 37.7, while while Mahomes' QBR was 56.7. I don't understand how they can possibly have a statistic that shows that Mahomes had a substantially better day. The more traditional Quarterback Rating has Willis at 134.6 with Mahomes at 120.5.

Can anyone help me understand why ESPN has Willis rated so low in their QBR rating? I found a QBR calculator online that supposedly calculates ESPN's formula- and it had Willis at 92 QBR... but obviously it's not looking at everything ESPN is supposedly looking at. Is there a subjective component to it? From what I understand this is supposed to be an impartial system that takes things into account like expected results vs actual results, penalties, etc... but after watching this game, I can't imagine how a system can objectively state that Mahomes had a better game. Perhaps it was his scrambling for 29 yards, but surely that shouldn't make his rating 19 points higher when Willis had a higher completion percentage and threw for more TDs.
