Less than 10 years ago coal was over 50% of U.S. generation. It is now 23% and falling yearly. Natural gas is now the single largest resource for generation. Hydro and wind dominate in the Great Plains and Pacific Northwest. Nuclear is prominent in many states East of the Mississippi River, as well as Nebraska and Arizona.
