There is a lot of excitement and curiosity about the new offense being installed, and understandably so, but we are also switching the defense up and I am curious what kind of guys Bowen is planning on pursuing to get the defense the way he wants it.
In particular, I am curious what kind of defensive tackles does he prefer. Does he want to massive gap pluggers? Does he want two quick guys that penetrate into the backfield regularly? Does he want want guy to hodl up the LOS with another shooting through the line?
If they are going for at least one big dude that can hold down the fort, I think they should look at Alex Criddle very heavily. Listed as a guard, but I like him at DT better. Listed at 6' 4" 310 lbs, his profile says he benches 450 lbs while his hudl says 400 lbs - either way, his film makes it evident he can push the pile. At the same time, he shows active hands and fires off the ball fairly well. With having an offer from Harvard already, I am guessing grades aren't an issue...his clips...
At the same time, they are pursuing a guy like Loudermilk who is a little bit lighter, but has a big frame and a lot of athleticism. They also seem to be pursuing a few JUCO guys, so wouldn't be surprised if they look to go that route for a guy or two.
