Off Topic Cool/Interesting things about KU or people that went to KU

Well the offseason is upon us, so for the next couple of months going to do the usual and figured would do this random OT Monday stuff again like last year.

What are some cool or interesting things about KU or people that went to KU? A couple of ones (common for the most part I think) to get this started.


Clyde Tombaugh, the man who is credited with finding Pluto, recently had some of his ashes placed on Pluto as the New Horizons spacecraft passed near Pluto attended KU.


It was first found at KU that helium existed in some natural gas reserves back in 1905


The CReSIS (Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets) was a part of a study with NASA and other universities that was able to use radar to give a look into the massive ice sheet over Greenland
