@shay, some queries...

1. Zach has only played in 8 games in AY2024-25. Assuming he does not play again this AY, if he applies will Zach qualify for a medical redshirt for this AY after redshirting AY2023-24? Isn’t 9 games (for a 31 game season), with none after the halfway mark, the max he can play and still qualify? If right, then if he applies for one he should be good to get one after the season is over.

2. How is Bryson recovering from his foot surgery?

3. According to all reports Bryson signed “financial aid documents” back on November 16 and is redshirting this AY, so he should count against KU’s scholarship limit for AY2024-25 – but how?
By my count KU now has 14 scholarship players on this year’s roster, despite the limit still being 13 for this AY. Or did that change for this AY as well as next with the NCAA decision on new scholarship (now = roster) limits? Or is there some exception in use that allows programs to “pay it forward” to next AY?

KU MEN’S BASKETBALL ROSTER AY2024-25
($ are walk-ons paying their own way).
0 Shakeel Moore G
1 Hunter Dickinson C
2 AJ Storr G/F
3 Dajuan Harris Jr PG
4 Rakease Passmore G
5 Zeke Mayo G
6 Rylan Griffen G
7 Noah Shelby$ G (RS)
8 David Coit G
11 Jamari McDowell G (RS)
12 Wilder Evers$ G
13 Elmarko Jackson PG (RS)
14 Patrick Cassidy$ G
15 Will Thengvall$ G
22 Dillon Wilhite$ F/C
24 KJ Adams Jr F
25 Justin Cross$ G/F
40 Flory Bidunga C
41 Zach Clemence F (possible medical RS?)
plus
Bryson Tiller F (RS) (although neither KUAthletics nor Rivals list him on this AY’s roster)

That’s 14 scholarship players.

3. There’s also the issue that his eligibility clock began with this Spring semester, but since we hope he will be so good he won’t be around for 4 seasons anyway that’s not really an issue, is it?

4. Since Bryson enrolled this AY, are recruiting services (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports, et al.) still counting him as a class of 2025 recruit for individual and class rankings? It seems they are from what I can tell. Yet we’ve seen in the past when recruits opt to move up – which he has done by enrolling early – they are taken out of their original class. So what’s the word on his status with the services, or at least with Rivals?

Thanks in advance!
