Heading into our bye week as we look forward to Big 12 play it really does appear we're at a crossroads for the 2016 and possibly for the Beaty Era at KU. Beaty's offense with the exception of the URI fool's gold game has graded out in the failing category. The defensive deficiencies have been discussed ad naseum in a variety of threads, but I believe many would grade that unit as below average to failing as well.
With progress lacking thus far at the 1/4 pole in year 2, Beaty & Co really need to show KU Nation that some level of progress is being made during conference play. 43-7 losses to teams like Memphis will translate into 64-7 or worse losses in Big 12 play. If we see a string of those type of beat downs put together over the coming months it'll be damn tough for Beaty to build the case that he is worthy of a year 3 or beyond.
I know 2 & done isn't a cycle we want to be in, but 0-12 followed by a 1-11 that didn't really look any better than the 0-for would dig ourselves a deeper whole than we're even in right now. HCDB, I'm rooting for you big time because I do love KU football, but now truly is your time to #EarnIt or forever have your name linked to the worst three coach era in KU football history.
