As I posted in that thread, it's smart to actually increase your pursuit of a kid who got hurt (but will most likely be fine - certainly by next fall), as most schools don't really have that luxury. If we have a "luxury" at all, it's being able to take a few chances on kids.
Beaty and co have to pick up players here and there, wherever we can find them. A piece here with a kid who got hurt but will recover...a kid who sat behind a stud recruit his junior year...a kid who plays in a school off the beaten trail...a stud who happens to live minutes from our campus and wouldn't consider us otherwise...a juco who no one else knows can graduate early...
It's harder work, but if you put the pieces together brick by brick, in a few years it gets easier. And we get a reputation for developing players...which trust me is Gold to a lot of High School coaches who care about their guys. A five star recruit doesn't need his HS coach to market him.
