Slow times on the board here so I thought I would share about the Beaty event tonight in Chicago. Nothing you all haven't heard, but I left fired up.
Zenger
-Opened up and said how Beaty reminds him of Self, and it took him a couple swings but he's got the hire right this time.
-Foundation has been set for a new football stadium and it will happen, but the players really care about getting 50k people in the stadium.
-Beaty's energy is what KU needs. Building a culture that gives back to the alumni and KU has a coach who fits that in every way.

-Rest easy bc I love this University like you all alumni love it. Everything is about you. AFH being great isn't enough for KU. He knows that Memorial can get packed and he's going to get it back to that bc he's hired the right staff to do so. When interviewing assistants if they didn't say they loved Lawrence he cut them off the list. Also said you would be shocked who called to be on his staff.
-Montel is very talented and is being asked to do things that are very different than what he was doing with the previous staff. Don't judge his ability on the past. Also said its an open race at QB but Montel has the edge.
-Juco players will never be a priority but when KU takes Jucos they will be looking at kids who were full qualifiers out of high school that just need more developing physically. That way they know they can handle the academic load. If they were not full qualifiers then you research the crap out of them and turn the page on anyone with red flags.
-Air raid doesn't mean throwing it a ton, A&M led the SEC in rushing w/ Manziel and they ran the air raid. He likes Linkens for his running game abilities just as much as passing.
-How does KU get better faster? Coaches analyzed the the top Big Xii teams and how they got there. 1) Discipline with penalties 2) keep the football and take it away 3) Execute special teams. None of those require talent. Reminded us if KU had better special teams they would have beat OSU and TCU last year.
-His pitch to recruits: Education you receive at KU and once you enroll at KU you enter a 633,000 person family that will change your life forever. People will always look out for you and try to help you anyway.
