I was in KSU's football facilities today for a shoulder (aka Hawk) tackling clinic today put on by an outside company.
From the outside it looks like a Barnes & Noble. Anderson doesn't look great from outside either so I'll call it a wash.
Inside of Vanier is SIGNIFICANTLY nicer than inside of Anderson. You can tell it has similar layout or guts but Vanier has a very spruced up and brighter feel to it than Anderson. Go up to 3rd level and there's enormous windows that look out onto the field, you don't have to be in the HC's office to see into stadium at KSU like at KU The big meeting rooms were a head and shoulder advantage to KSU. KU's seats kind of suck and while I'm a bigger guy, we have much bigger and taller players on the roster. It'd be pretty uncomfortable for some of those guys to get in and out of the seats while KSU has movie theater type seating except much bigger and wider. A lot more stuff on the walls at KSU, whether it's murals, displays or I'm not sure what to call it facade type stuff that is hung on the walls. KSU training table atmosphere blows KU's out of the water. KU's (or at least where they fed us a year ago) is in basement while KSU's is basically in the northwest corner of the stadium next to the big addition they made there a couple years ago. Basically a nicer cafeteria style with tons of windows looking out onto the field and yes out towards the fields north of the stadium. Weight rooms are basically identical cause well you know why.
Then went to KSU Indoor field which is kind of dumpy. It was hot as shit in there or at least no air circulation...but they have one.
All of this to say, I'm REALLY glad that we have raised the funds to spruce up Anderson Family Complex. Believe it or not our 8 year old building is already outdated cosmetics wise. The great news is the bones are built and KUAD can go in and make that the best football complex in the state again.
