When Zenger hired Weis, the lack of Weis's relationships with high school coaches in the region, especially Texas was glossed over for Weis's NFL pedigree.
As time moves forward, and I know this is a hindsight 20/20 deal but the hire of Weis will continue to look worse and worse.
Who knows who Zenger could have hired instead of Weis, or if there was anyone who was ready to embrace the KU job like Beatty has, but Zenger has to be kicking himself in the butt for making that hire.
I am simply in awe of what this staff is doing and in such a short period of time, with respect to recruiting. And I get it that just making offers doesn't equal success for Beatty. Hopefully they will land some of these players that are highly ranked and start a snowball effect that translates to wins on the field. But the effort and organization to date is just impressive.
