Somewhere in Florida, AL Bohl must have a bit of a rye smile on his face this morning. He must be quietly chuckling to himself as he sips his morning cup Joe. You see, Al Bohl is the only person to have known anything about football who has stepped on the KU campus in the last nearly 30 years. He not only hired the only successful coach Kansas has had in the last 20 years but he also hired Nick Saban at Toledo, Gary Pinkel at Toledo and Pat Hill at Fresno state. To say he knew his stuff as a football AD is an understatement. And the people at Kansas hated him.
The bad news isn't the abysmal record of the past 8 seasons (and it's one of the worst in college football history), and it's not the sparse crowds and it's not even that Kansas is the punchline to every football joke now.
No, the bad news for us Kansas football fans is that there is not a single individual up on Mt. Oread who knows a single thing about football. They all stink at it. They're clueless. Have been for a long time. That's why they needed Al Bohl after their disastrous Terry Allen experiment.
So, when you go to bed tonight thinking about the shambles that Al Bohl's program has become remember that there's no safety net, there's no lifeguard on duty, and everyone is asleep at the wheel in Lawrence.
THAT'S the real problem at Ol' KU. And until an entire mind set and personnel overhaul occurs that will remain the problem at Kansas.
