I have suspected something about Willis since the first game and now I'd wager I'm right. I bet he went into the SDSU game by accident. It's not like they sent in a new QB at halftime. Cozart was hurt. They quickly sent someone in and Willis was there.
Willis isn't just down the depth chart--he is absolutely buried with almost zero chance see the light of day. The coaches benched Cozart. He allegedly was super sick. And rather than going to Willis when Fors went out, they go back to the man who has both sucked badly this year and who was vacillating between an ICU admission and showing up to the game.
So what gives? Why play a guy two snaps who is so far down the depth chart that I might actually get in before him? My only explanation is that they sent him in by accident. My theory is also supported by their decision to yank him after two snaps before third down.
Now, the coaches will never say that Bc it would make them look like fools. But I bet that's the case.
This is also consistent with everything JK said in the preseason. Cozart and Ford ran with the ones, not Willis.
