No matter who KU goes with, they will have the more experienced QB.
The more I watch, Altmeyer is basically Carter Stanley in Orange and Blue. Same size, same jersey number, arm strength and accuracy profiles similarly, and he can run if it’s there.
Altmeyer looks most comfortable in RPO’s when the ground game is working for them. He can make intermediate throws when linebackers are in conflict, and has the arm strength to hurt you. But he is by no means a pure pocket passer.

I think the key will be stopping their ground game. If KU can make Illinois somewhat one dimensional, I just don’t see Altmeyer coming in and winning this game on his own. He can make some big plays, but he will also throw into triple coverage. I don’t see that holding up for 4 quarters against KU who plays a disciplined brand of football.

Secondary needs to continue to tackle well when Illinois rb get to second level. DL and LB job is to create more 3rd and 7 + than 3rd and 3 -.
If KU holds up against the run on early downs, I feel great about our chances. I’m comfortable with Daniels AND/OR Bean head-to-head with Altmeyer.
