One my old college pol sci professors believes it is inevitable that a POTUS election will be thrown to the U.S. House by failure of a candidate to win an Electoral College majority. His solution, although he admits improbable until an such election crisis is thrown to the House, is to have a national primary in September, followed by a November general runoff election. Direct popular vote. His goal is to break the stranglehold of the two major parities on the process. His field of academic focus includes the Electoral College, which he believes has outlived its usefulness as an acceptable system of electing POTUS. He also favors weighted voting for the POTUS general election in his scheme. He wants a national conversation about what he says are the failings of the Electoral College. What say you? Something different than Virus and/or Trump.
