There has been talk here regarding the blueprint of a rebuild here at KU with Mason and Mangino as the reference. Each of those rebuilds had a cornerstone on the offensive (Tony Sands and Charles Gordon) or defensive (Dana Stubblefield, Nick Reid and Charles Gotdon) side of the ball that could be counted on to provide stability and production as other pieces were developed or added. If those two rebuilds are our reference then who are the players we should look for to become All-Conference type players by years 2017 or 2018?

Also, to put the magnitude of the lead up to our current situation in context I looked at the 3 year lead up to the Mason and Mangino Eras.

85 = 6-6
86 = 3-8
87 = 1-9-1
Win % = 0.29

99 = 5-7
00= 4-7
01 = 3-8
Win % = 0.35

12 = 1-11
13 = 3-9
14= 3-9
Win % = 0.19

Win % Gill & Weis Era = 0.20

So if we're looking at the lead up to our two rebuilds of reference an argument could be made that we're worse off now than we've ever been and at the completion of this season we will have gone through the worst stretch of football in KU history. No era in KU football history has seen a 5 year win % of less than 0.23 , but with a winless 2015 our 5 year win % will be 0.15.

I think an argument could be made this is the worst version of the book we've ever had to pick up or a book we've never seen before.
