On March 4, 2006, KU solidly dispatched of KSU 66 - 52 at Manhattan (on their senior night). It was KSU's 10th conference loss against 6 wins, ending a 3-8 stretch after a promising season start of 12-4 and 3-2 in conference. For KU, it clinched their second straight Big 12 conference title.
KU had a young team that didn't have a consistent low post presence. CJ Giles, Sasha Kaun and Darnell Jackson went a combined 2-12 with 6 pts and 10 rebounds. However, KU's gritty and solid perimeter play (10-19 3pt shooting) dominated KSU. The score was closer than the game, as KU roared to a 39-24 halftime lead.

Guys, I'm really feeling the same vibe here. If we want to go deeper than "It's a rivalry! Anything can happen!!!" we need to look at this game. It most closely resembles what we're heading into tonight. Just as this team has seemingly checked out on Weber, that team had checked out on Wooly. (Senior night, no less). Similarly young KU teams.

There are no guarantees, of course. A lot of question marks with this KU team, for sure. The 05-06 KU team seemed to have a little better chemistry by this point. But given how KSU looks right now, I don't think we need to fear this game as much as some are.
