you will really like KUFB exactly …..

You will really like KUFB exactly 1 year 363 days from now upon the completion of the 2023 season on November 25th…

2021 Stats of National note::

2 wins .. beat the O/U 1.5 set by Vegas..

Played OU, TCU and WVU to the end of Q4.. Finished year strong.

When we see stats like this we should think discipline, teamwork, selflessness, fundamentals, buy in etc as part of a culture change over the last 20-23 weeks…

Sacks Allowed .. 16 total .. Ranked #16 Nationally..

Fewest Penalties .. Ranked #6 Nationally..

Fewest Penalty Yards PG .. Ranked #4 Nationally..

Fumbles Recovered .. Ranked #38 Nationally..

Fumbles Lost.. 3 total .. Ranked T#7 Nationally..

Tackles for Loss Allowed .. Ranked tied with Florida and Coastal Carolina at #45 Nationally..

Time of Possession.. Ranked #37 Nationally..

November 2023
  • You will see an established OL room numbering about 20 +/- 2 with depth across the classes with a P5 caliber 10 man rotation and legit 15 man 3 deep on the roster..
  • You will see an established DL with depth across the classes at both DT and DE numbering 16-18 with 3 deep depth at all 4 spots..
  • You will see a vastly different LB room numbering 12-14 with a true 2 deep at all 4 spots..
  • KU will lead the B12 in rushing in terms of YPC and maybe total YPG..
  • KU will lead the B12 in least penalized
  • KU will lead the B12 in SPT re net return yards
  • KU will finish T3 in TO margin in the B12 in large part due to the Offense leading the B12 in ball security
  • You will physically see SC program results not seen at KU in almost 20 years
I think KU wins 4 in 2022….

2023? Continued progress….

Seniors

Dineen, Fallin, Gilbertson, Kendrick & Miles all went through Senior Night, so safe to assume they are gone.

Arnold, Bostick, Burt, Debose, Flomo, Grunhard, Lee, Sampson, TK Williams, E. Wilson are all out of eligibility unless they take advantage of the covid exception.

This is an interesting tweet by Sampson. Does this mean he's done?

Channel, Horne & Nick Williams also participated in Senior Night. They were all here 4 years, but redshirted their first year.

Our other RS-Seniors are Bean, Copeland, Hatcher, Kwinton Lassiter, McGee, Novitsky, Orange, Roe & Terry.

Will be interesting to see how many more leave. Those 10 up top don't need to wait until December 15th.

2021 Redshirt Tracker - Final

I'll do this two ways this year since technically last year should not have counted, but on KU's roster they are using the 4-game rule for last year.

crazy thought regarding offseason

2017 season: Beaty/Woodfin are HC/SC
2018 offseason: Beaty/Woodfin, Zenger fired immediately turning Beaty into a lame duck
2018 season: Beaty/Woodfin, Beaty fired in season
2019 offseason: Miles/Woodfin
2019 season: Miles/Woodfin
2020 offseason: Woodfin leaves, Iannacchione hired, COVID ends offseason SC
2020 season: Miles/Iannacchione
2021 offseason: Long/Miles/Iannachione fired, LL/Gildersleeve hired
2021 season: LL/Sleeve
2022 offseason: appears that LL/Sleeve will be here

What I'm getting at, is that it's basically been since the 2017 season/offseason where the program wasn't facing major changes in the offseason.

You hear about how it takes a JC player some time to adjust to new staffs, philosophies, expectations, etc....well KU has been doing it every 6 months to their entire program for almost 5 years.

Its just insane to me that you have kids like Chris Hughes or Earl Bostick who have been here for their entire careers and have never had a full offseason with the same staff that coached them in the season.

Sleeve 2022

I love what Coach Sleeve has done with just a summer! He’s been so integral in setting the culture! He set the pace. Can’t wait to see what he can get done in a full year! I love that so many guys are ready to to the work now for 2022! The belief is pervasive from the HC to the field to the weight room and those that are in are FULLY in! This gets me hyped!

HCLL, do we…

Do we extend HCLL now??
Assistant pool?
Ok so I thought this after yesterday’s game but thought “is it too reactionary”?? I was going to post it earlier but now the B12 is losing Riley maybe it’s worthwhile to do so.
This teams improvement from the first 3 games to the last 3 was night and day. I love the attitude. I love the discipline. Maybe it’s early but is it?? I don’t see HCLL running to the next big thing but if a school offers him $6M he probably thinks about it right? Taking care of the assistants might be wise. Maybe there’s incentives added.
Trust me I’m not posting this and fretting about next season and who our coach is. This is not a scarcity situation. We need consistency and stability and I believe wholeheartedly HCLL will be that but I don’t know that it wouldn’t be worth it to sweeten things a little.
Anyway thought it was worth discussing.
