SEC has 13 of 14 schools bowl eligible. Big 12 with only 7 of 10. There were 5 SEC schools at 6-6 and 4 of the 5 lost at least one non-con game; only Florida won all 4 non-cons (but won only 2 SEC games). Playing another conference game would have likely knocked out 2 or 3 of those bowl eligible teams. I just wonder at what point the other conferences wise up and drop a conference game? Having bowl eligible teams helps recruiting even though the leagues don't really make any more money in those lower level bowls. It wouldn't surprise me if someone has done an analysis, but leagues playing more conference games seem to have less bowl eligible teams. ACC had 10 of 14 (11 of 15 w/ ND) with an 8 game schedule while Big 10 and 9 of 14 with 9 game schedule. PAC was 6 of 12 (9 game schedule).
